TEXT Conversation about RESOURCES with a BROKEN EXAM error |
|
Student: What does that mean?
Resources I mean
TechGuy: Resources is a combination of two things... either the browser cache is full and needs to be cleared out.. -or- the system memory resources that the browser runs in is too occupied with other apps running taking up memory that there is not enough space for the exam to be fully administered.
Remember.. the very first thing that happens is... the exam is fully writtent to your web browser's memory.
Student: Ok
TechGuy: After it is written to memory, the very next thing is to fetch the questions from memory one-at-a-time to give you the exam.
When it can't find those questions.. it gives you a broken exam message because it can't find what it put in memory.
This occurs when (with portable devices like a phone or tablet) too many apps are running in the background (not on top) that are chewing up memory resources ... they need to be closed.
If it is a browser problem, then the browser cache is too full when the web browser can't hold all of the exam information reliably (of which there are many many other things stored for other sites: images, videos, data, etc)
Student: Ok
TechGuy: This is why, a mobile browwer (on phone or tablet or even Chromebook) is not recommended because a mobile borower doesn't really 'run' in the background, it is just kinda paused in the hopes that when you return to the browser, it doesn't have to fetch all of the session variables to restore it to working as before.
Student: Ok
TechGuy: So.. a mobile browser on a mobile platform is NEVER RECOMMENDED... some may get it to work if it is particularly beefy with lots o RAM and storage, but not everyone
Student: Ok
TechGuy: A device resource problem.
Go back to what you performed the last time the exam worked, and repeat any/all of the below steps immediately before the next exam,
Anything to give you an empty clear edge and not bogged-down device for it to work.
ALL of this .. is in the BROKEN EXAM FAQ.
