How do COOKIES help me with Account Type selection? |
|
Many pages are written to accumulate information to do it's job properly as you go from page to page.
Information from the first page is needed for the second. Information from the second page is needed on the third. Etc.
Since we do not store your information in cookies in your web browser (never have, never will) the only thing we do is carry SESSION variables forward from page to page in it's own special place for you on the server.
The way those SESSION variables work is by storing A SINGLE WEB BROWSER cookie on your device's (laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone) web browser. That cookie stores the totally UNIQUE key that ONLY your browser has while it's session is active with the Driving School system.
That session key is 32 characters long. Completely unique to your web browser AS YOU ARE USING it with us. Once you logout (or your session expired after 3 hours with no activity) the session key you used is destroyed.
An example of a session key I once had recently while I was working on the system was this value:
b9bb777960708c0c99541f5f72618b2f
They do not look like anything to view their value.
Now, if you were to delete all cookies from your web browser for the Driving School site (and you're logged in at the time), you will have effectively logged out of the system. You can only login to get back to what you were working on.
Also, if you (or a system/network administrator) has blocked your system from receiving web browser cookies (through a firewall, or maybe antivirus software, etc) then your ability to carry information forward from page to page will not work for you. Cookies must be enabled for you to do any real work on the site.
